Anti Cancer, A new way of Life.

Dr David Servan-Schreiber

Anti Cancer, the desire of every heart, most assuredly.

When he was 31 Dr Servan-Schreiber was dianosed with an advanced brain tumour. He was successfully operated and returned to his former lifestyle.

Lunch consisted of Chilli con carne, a bagel and a cola. He played no sport, did no exercise. Seven years later the cancer returned, and he realised he was going to die if he didn't change his lifestyle.

Up until then the psychiatrist believed in modern Western Medicine, but now decided to consult a Tibetan doctor. This man doesn't consider the symptoms of a sickness, but rather what a body needs to protect itself from disease. Meditation, acupuncture and a change of dietary habits were recommended.

Servan-Schreiber began a deep search of the scientific literature. Eventually he came to the conclusion that we have within ourselves the capacity to prevent cancer. Healthy eating habits, plenty of exercise, mental balance and a healthy environment is what he urges in his book. Cancer is the norm if we don't get these factors in balance.

He states that everyone has cancer cells in their bodies, but in the West only one in four die of cancer. What about the other three? Could it be because they have balance in their lives?

He believes that yoga gives one a positive attitude. He now starts every day with ten minutes of meditation. The day progresses better with less stress.

Again he recommends, exercise, not to prevent cancer, but to feel good about our time on Earth.

Says he: "I feel much healthier now at 47 than I did at 30."
